The support is the entire reason to be here
A human on Discord within ten minutes every single time, including a Sunday morning when our proxy fell over. They explain what they did afterwards instead of silently closing the ticket. The hardware is mid-tier and I know it - I'm paying for the people, and I'd make that trade again.
They moved four years of world data and I didn't touch a thing
Handed over the SFTP details for the old host and they did the entire migration overnight, including plugin configs and the permissions database, which I had been putting off for months. We tested it together on a call before the DNS switch. For a community that is mostly not technical this is worth the premium on its own.
Good baby-sitting, average hardware
The managed part is genuinely managed. Modpack updates happen without me, backups are offsite and they've proven a restore twice, and they will write a config change for you if you ask nicely. The raw performance is fine but nothing special; our 80-player modded server sits at 17-18 TPS at peak and they insist that's normal for the pack. I'd pay more for a heavier CPU option if they offered one.
TPS problems took far too long to take seriously
We reported chunk-loading lag on our 1.20 pack in March and got three rounds of 'have you tried reducing view distance' before anyone actually profiled the server. It was one broken mod, and they fixed it properly once they looked, but that was two weeks of a very grumpy Discord and a lot of me defending them to my own players.
Thanks for the detailed feedback - we have passed this to the team and would like to look into your account if you can get in touch.
Managed means you aren't allowed to fix it yourself
Pleasant people, but there is no root, no container shell, and every small change becomes a ticket. I waited three days for a plugin version bump that would have taken me four minutes. If you want to actually operate your server this is simply the wrong shape of product, and the sales page doesn't make that clear enough.
Steady, unexciting, exactly what I wanted
Two years and no incident I had to be awake for. The panel is dated and the file manager crawls on a big world, but they have never missed a restore request. Renewal went up 8% last year with proper notice, which is fair enough.
About Hearthstack
Hearthstack is rated 3.6 out of 5 from 6 customer reviews on HostSerp.
Hearthstack is a fully managed host aimed at non-technical community owners: their staff handle migrations, modpack updates, offsite backups and config changes on request, with a Discord bot wired into the ticket system. Onboarding includes a call and a test restore before you go live. Prices sit well above self-service hosts and root-level access is not offered on any plan.

Hearthstack sells labour more than hardware, and understanding that determines whether you will love or resent it. Migrations are the standout: they move worlds, plugin configs and permissions databases overnight, test the result with you, and cut over without the customer ever touching SFTP. Backups are offsite and, unusually, verified with periodic test restores. The hardware underneath is mid-tier, which shows on heavy modpacks where 80-player servers settle around 17-18 TPS, and the panel is dated with a file manager that struggles on large worlds. The other cost is autonomy - every change is a ticket, and reviewers report multi-day waits for edits they could have made in minutes themselves. Excellent for a community whose owner does not want to be a sysadmin; a poor fit for anyone who does.
