Getting the auth code took three days
Requested the EPP code, got a page telling me why I should stay, then a form, then an email saying a ticket had been opened. Three days and two follow-ups later I had the code. Nothing broke and the transfer itself went through, but it was clearly designed to make me give up. Also the unlock toggle silently re-locked once and I had to redo it.
Renewal was 4x what I paid
Registered a .store for under two dollars, thought I'd found a bargain. Renewal notice came in at just under forty. Nowhere in the signup flow was that number shown to me in a way I'd notice — it's in a table three clicks deep. Technically disclosed, practically hidden. Let it drop.

Privacy should not be a paid extra in 2026
Every domain I hold there wants an annual fee for WHOIS privacy, and if you skip it your address is public. Competitors include it. On top of that the renewal invoice bundles privacy back in automatically if you ever enabled it once. Ended up moving eleven domains out. DNS was fine, honestly no complaints there.
Fine if you know what you're doing
I've used them for six years for throwaway project domains and I've never been surprised, because I read the renewal table every single time and I untick the four add-ons they pre-select. The DNS editor is basic but it works and changes go live fast. Would I recommend them to my mum? Absolutely not. For me they're the cheapest way to park an idea.

Huge TLD list, that's the draw
They carry ccTLDs nobody else bothers with, which is why I keep an account. Got a fairly obscure one registered same day with no fuss. Support was slow but eventually helpful when the registry rejected my initial contact details. Pricing is what it is — you're paying for catalogue breadth.

Pennywise runs one of the widest TLD catalogues around and the first-year prices are real, which is why the customer base is enormous. The problem is everything after year one. Renewals commonly land at three to five times the promo rate, WHOIS privacy is a paid line item on most TLDs, and the checkout flow pre-ticks add-ons that a distracted buyer will pay for. Transfers out work but are buried behind a retention flow and a support ticket in some cases. The DNS panel is functional and propagation is fine. If you are disciplined, price-aware, and willing to move domains every few years, you can save real money here. Most people are not, and that is the business model.
