Constant CPU limit warnings
My WordPress site is not big. Roughly 2k visits a month, cached, no bloated plugins. I still get "account exceeded resource limit" emails several times a week and during those windows visitors get a 503. Support's answer is always to upgrade to the next tier up. It feels less like a technical limit and more like a sales funnel. Speed is poor in the afternoons regardless.

The renewal price is a joke
Signed up at £1.19/mo on a 3 year term. Renewal quote came in at nearly £9/mo. That is not a discount expiring, that is a completely different product. When I queried it support just pasted the terms at me. I'd have respected it more if the real price was on the pricing page in the same size font as the promo. Left for a competitor and the migration out was deliberately awkward - no cPanel backup generation on the account until I raised a second ticket.
You get what you pay for, which is fine
I pay about the price of a coffee per month for my cycling blog. It's up, it loads, cPanel works. Is it fast? Not really, and it gets sluggish in the afternoons. But I'm not going to complain about a host that costs less than my domain renewal. Just don't expect miracles and you'll be fine.
Cheap first host, outgrew it fast
Honestly a reasonable place to learn on. Panel is normal cPanel so everything I learned transferred. But the moment my site got any traction the shared server couldn't cope, and the upgrade path is expensive enough that moving elsewhere was cheaper. No hard feelings, just know what it is.
Ticket sat unanswered for two days
My site went down on a Friday evening and I couldn't reach anyone until Monday morning because chat is business hours only. For a personal site that's annoying, for my small shop it cost me a weekend of orders. The eventual fix took them ten minutes, so it wasn't a hard problem, there was just nobody there. Moved to a host with real 24/7 coverage.

Fine for what it is
Been hosting two small client brochure sites here for about a year. Neither gets much traffic so the shared load doesn't really bite. The app installer works, SSL is free and auto-renews, email accounts are unlimited. My only real complaint is that the checkout tries to sneak a site-builder addon and a "premium" SSL into the cart. Uncheck everything twice before you pay.
About Pennyloft Hosting
Pennyloft Hosting is rated 2.6 out of 5 from 6 customer reviews on HostSerp.
An aggressively priced budget shared host built around long prepay terms, with entry plans starting near a pound a month on a three-year commitment. Pennyloft offers standard cPanel, unlimited-branded bandwidth subject to a fair-use policy, and a one-click app installer. Servers are densely packed and support is ticket-first with chat available in business hours only. It suits static brochure sites, hobby blogs and anyone whose main constraint is budget rather than performance.

Pennyloft does exactly what its price implies, which is both the defence and the criticism. For a static brochure site or a low-traffic blog it is genuinely serviceable, and the cPanel install is bog-standard so nothing needs relearning. But node density is high and it is measurable: our test WordPress install returned sub-second loads overnight and crawled past three seconds during European afternoon peak, with occasional 503s under any real concurrency. Support is the weaker half - tickets averaged just over nine hours in our sampling and the first reply was frequently a knowledge-base link rather than an answer. The pricing model deserves specific criticism: the headline rate requires a 36-month prepay, renewal is several times the intro price, and the checkout pre-ticks addons you have to notice and remove. Fine as a first host. Plan your exit before you outgrow it.
