Everything human is 5 stars. Everything automated is 2. Their API can list domains and pull reports but you cannot create a domain or edit DNS through it, so our provisioning scripts still need a person in the loop. Was told it's on the roadmap for next year. Been told that before.
Our card on file expired and the auto-renew for a domain that fronts a client portal failed. Verdant's monitoring flagged it, our account contact called me directly, and it was resolved the same morning. That single incident justified the year's fee several times over. Yes it is expensive. It is also the only registrar where a person knows my name.
The service is genuinely excellent but the sales process annoyed me. There's no public price list, everything is a custom quote, and our renewal quote came in 18% higher than year one with a vague reference to registry increases. When I pushed back they knocked most of it off, which tells you the first number wasn't real. Deduct a star for that.
We needed registry lock with out-of-band verification for four names after a phishing scare at a peer company. Verdant walked us through it, set up the authorised-contact list, and tested the unlock procedure with us. Most registrars I asked either didn't offer it or didn't understand the question. The DNS panel is fine but nothing special.
Signed up because an agency recommended them, then realised I have nine domains and no trademark to watch. Nothing wrong with the product, I just wasn't the customer. Transfer out was handled politely and quickly, no games, which I appreciated. Would recommend to a bigger org.
