The team is small enough that regulars know the staff by name.

Cheap, close, cheerful

Nine dollars a month for a twelve person modded server three hops from my house. Mod installs are manual uploads with no one-click packs, but SFTP is quick and support replies in plain english without a script. For a hobby server in this part of the world I don't think there's a better deal going.

14ms from Auckland, finally

Every host we tried before routed us through Sydney at best and LA at worst. The whole NZ side of our community is under 20ms now and in a shooter the difference is night and day. The catalogue is small though, so if the game you want isn't on their list you're simply out of luck.

Great regionally, don't expect global

The Perth node is excellent for us. Our EU friends get 280ms and there's nothing anyone can do about that, which is on us for expecting otherwise. The panel is an off-the-shelf one with their logo on it and works fine. Small team, they do answer, sometimes a few hours later than I'd like.

Maintenance windows at the worst possible times

Performance day to day is decent for the price. But they've done unannounced restarts during our raid nights twice now, and both times the status page was updated after the fact. To be fair they were apologetic and credited us a week, so it's a mixed picture rather than a bad one.

Six hours down during an attack and no comms

Server was unreachable for most of a Saturday. Their upstream null-routed the IP instead of filtering, and nobody told us for four hours. I understand a small regional provider can't buy tier-1 scrubbing, but the silence was worse than the outage itself. We moved the main server elsewhere and kept a small one here purely for the ping.
